Ideas for new areas for the site and development progress

Post by BuZz »

If anyone has ideas for new areas on the site please post them. There is a Todo page on the site which outlines various jobs which need doing also.

I'm currently importing/reformatting the news from the old site, which is almost complete. We also have plans to move various bits of meta-data from the unexotica collection onto the wiki. Data such as homepage url for composers, and boxscan references - which will mean more information is "user editable".

XtC has created an area on the site called Lost In Translation which aims to compare conversions from Arcade to home computers (And film to game). There are already a few section which have complete information, but there are many hundreds more to be populated. We are certainly looking for people to fill in the gaps for title screenshots from the arcade and screenshots from various versions of games. The Out Run page is a good example of one of the more complete pages.

Also, if anyone wants to help contribute to the UnExoticA music collection, then please let us know and we can get you set up and on our dev list.

Also do let us know if there are things you like/dislike about the site. And don't forget, you are all free to edit and contribute to make the site a bigger, more interesting place!

I'd love it if it were possible to reconfigure some of the pages on the fly for different sort criteria

I'd really like to be able to sort by date as well as the default alphabetic title on composers (and other) lists. Just click on the date column or something?

What with us being a wiki and all, the only way would be to pre-build lists sorted in different ways, or build some db index frontend. Both are unlikely to happen though i would think.

[edit]: actually this might be possible with some client side javascript!. Would be slow for large tsbles, but might be ok for smaller ones. Wikipedia has this feature so I'll get back to you.

[edit] Indeed it is as easy as adding an additional class to the table. I'll add this to the script. Cheers!
