Amiga music subgenres?

Post by alexh »

I am sure everyone has heard of some music subgenres.

Metal, Britpop, Garage, Grunge, Drum&Bass, etc.

I've been listening to lots of Amiga modules just recently and I am sure there are several subgenres within Amiga music and I was wondering if anyone else had ever noticed or even tried to name them?

I am currently addicted to listening to one subgenre which for want of a better name I will call Euro-demopop.

The beat, the style, is so similar between many, many tracks, but so different to others. E.G.

Occ San Geen by Uncle Tom ('89 Seven Sins/Scoopex)
A Final Hyperbase by Firefox & Tip ('91 Enigma/Phenomena)
Stardust Memories by Jester/Sanity ('92 World of Commodore/Sanity)

I dont think these people copied each other directly (Ed: although they might have) I just think it was the sound that their peers liked the most and the style they asked for.

If anyone else has noticed this "subgenres" or any other I'd like to hear about them.
