Monkey Island 2 music as OGG Vorbis?

Post by Jason »

Hi,

Does anyone have the title music from Monkey Island 2 in OGG Vorbis?

All the fan sites on the net have the same old mp3 version with some MSN Messager sound in the middle...

I have the most feelings for the Amiga version, but if someone have it for the PC version, then that would also be interesting :)

I do.

I recorded most of the soundtrack using TiMidity and set of high quality instruments and encoded them as MP3. If no one else can help today, I'll sort out the title music for you tonight.

I might even re-record and encode as OGG...
Cheers!

It's iMUSE and it doesn't have a replayer at the moment. Indy Fate of Atlantis uses it too. IIRC, it's basically a midi clone that uses samples instead of midi.

Apologies for not uploading anything yet. Haven't had a chance! Mini-XtC is quite time consuming!

Okay you Monkey Island freaks, I've sorted out the OGG version as requested, plus some other versions which can be found here.

That's on Don Adan's to-do list, but I think it's near the bottom. :(

I wouldn't have the first clue how to create a replayer!

No and no.

You can possibly rip midi files from the Amiga version (I think someone did once), but then how do you get it to play using the instrument set used by the game...?
Cheers!

I don't have the slightest remembering of the Amiga soundtrack being in iMuse. It's a tracking format no doubt, but certainly not iMuse as the PC (AdLib or MT-32) version is, that is with dynamically changing tracks. The Amiga soundtrack is entirely static (not even mentioning that many tunes were just scrapped). The Amiga version really sucked bad IMO. Poor conversion job in every department. Very disappointing. I will loathe LucasArts forever. I hate you George. Hate. Hate. Hate!
