Modland and scenesat reLive interface for XBMC

Post by BuZz »

Development of this plugin is now on plugin is now on http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/. However this forum can still be used for feedback/comments.

If any of you like XBox Media Center (A great media player for your xbox, linux, mac or windows media pc), you might be interested in a couple of Music plugins I'm currently working on.

The first allows searching and playing of music from Modland, utilising the realtime streaming/recording interface.
So far just a simple plain text search is supported that works the same as the "quick search" on the exotica modland search page.

plugin is downloadable from http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/

the second plugin is for scenesat relive, that allows listening to old shows from scenesat radio (http://www.scenesat.com) and other podcasts that support the relive system. Please give it a try

plugin is downloadable from http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/

Please post any feedback/improvements (with patches :) ) to this thread :)

*2010-01-04 - Update*

*2010-01-05 - Update*
reLive now shows the separate tracks that a show consists of and allows playback to be started at any point
code cleanups
added icons
*2010-01-11 - Update*
Plugin now maintained on xbmc-addons. No further updates will be posted here

For those unfamiliar with the content of modland. Here are a few searches to try.

drax fasttracker
(all the multichannel music from drax - excellent stuff)

turrican tfmx
(music from the turrican games on the amiga)

hippel coso
(some great amiga music from jochen hippel)

"4-mat"
(lots of music from the musician 4-mat for various platforms)

.. please suggest more

Ey up!

What can I say, you install the plugin, perform a search, select a song and it plays! Excellent stuff!

For those not familiar with XBMC, here are some screen grabs: -
Example of a modland search result using XBMC.

Example of modland playing a file, though it's not clear what file is playing! :-)

Example of XBMC playing a song with full tags and album art.

Well done with your first Python script, BuZz. Now if only someone would create a STIL equivalent for Amiga music - oh, wait a minute, I have!
Cheers!

I have updated the modland plugin. details listed above.

I have also added details about a second plugin I have created, that allows listening to show archives from http://www.scenesat.com as well other things that support the relive system. It will for example allow you to listen also to the bitfellas podcasts, including the ExoticA edition we made.
