Tracker Packer 1

Post by asle »

Hey Muerto,

About this TP1 example I sent you some days back (at your request). You said it was not played by Deliplayer. Well, I searched again this music (by Einstein/Mexx btw) and found back it came off the demo "Coder Trash" by Mexx (~1991). I re-ripped it and its the same result as the one I sent you. Also, note that UADE plays it correctly :). The other thing to note is that Crazy Crack (the coder of the demo) noted something about his packing method to the rippers.
Crazy Crack - in the demo Coder Trash wrote: if you want to rip it with a normal ripper, you wont find it, because it was packed and replayed by my (CRAZY CRACK the BlitterBlaster) own TrackerPacker Replayroutine (...)
So here you have it. A real TrackerPacker file  . Sorry for DP.

Regards,

PS: I'm running FreeBSD and not Winblows. I wouldn't know how fares DP ... .

hey asle!!

Ripped the module in the demo before it was "executed by the code" and now it works fine with DeliPlayer!

nothing about SGT packed files. still on my "todo" list, though. Now, I simply didn't have the time. I'm on several things at the same time and there aren't so much hours in a day, you know :?
I'll keep in touch

Just to note that I've found two other TP1 files to a grand total of 3 now :). Well, only to note that the PW4PC handling of the patternlist was extremly buggy (even if it worked on the only example I had). So I recoded all this to a more or less universal TP1 depacker. Still, there are an odd behaviour like the first note being either 0 or 1 ... . That could be explained by an in-between version of TP1. This peculiar pb cant really be taken cared of.
So, PW4PC now handles all TP1 (memory ripped of file ripped). The trick was to get the lowest pattern addy and substract it to all the other pattern addys. then add 794, addy of the first pattern data. Then, converting pattern data that are between 794 and the sample data addy. Then, comparing the addys of the patternlist and the one found while depacking. You get the correct patterlist that way. great :). You even get the unused patterns if there are any.

I dont remember if some1 was interrested by the TP1. If so, please contact me.
Last, please note that both "new" files are _not_ played correctly by UADE. I just assume but I guess it's the same for DP.

Cya,
Sylvain
