problem with music formats..

I like amiga game music as much as anyone else here, but there's only one problem.. the strange and unique file formats. I don't know of any winamp plugins that work, i know deliplayer does nearly anything but.. i really would like to just have 1 player instead of 2. I have been looking around everywhere but can't find anything else. I know you gotta register to unlock the stereo mode disk writer in deliplayer, but there's only a couple of songs i wanna write away, and 20 bucks for a single use and then probably never again seems a bit much to me.
The files are in RJP, AST, SA, GMC and P4X, whatever those last may be.
Is there any solution to my problem ? ideally, i'd want them converted to OGG file format..
Please help me out. :(

If you don't want to register DeliPlayer, the only other way I can think of is to use WinUAE. (DeliPlayer uses the UAE core for faithful Paula reproduction)

Anyway, WinUAE has an option to Output WAV files as well as AVI, so all you need to do is emulate an Amiga playing the tunes you want to record, save the output as WAV, and then encode as OGG or whatever.

Bit long-winded, but it works.

BTW...

RJP = Richard Joseph Player
AST = Actionamics Sound Tool
SA = Sonic Arranger
GMC = Game Music Creator
P4X = The Player 4.0/4.1

The songs are from a couple of games, cool spot, james pond 3, jumpin jack flash, dynablaster and marvin's marvelous adventure. The problem is, jumpin jack flash puts other sound fx through the songs, like the jumping, marvin's marvelous adventure won't run smooth on my computer, the sound card isn't very compatible with winua, dynablaster won't run at all and i can't find james pond anywhere.

AFAIK, the output of your soundcard whilst runnig WinUAE shouldn't be an issue when you output the audio as WAV.

I was actually meaning for you to have an Amiga HD setup on WinUAE with DeliTracker installed, so you can record the output from DeliTracker via WinUAE. That's what I meant about slightly long-winded - but once you have it installed, if you think of other Amiga tunes you want, you've got the setup to record them. :wink:

Although it's outside the scope of this forum, you can get a preinstalled Workbench HD from http://aiab.emuunlim.com/ which should save you some time.

...of course you'll need a Kickstart ROM too, though don't ask for one on the ExoticA forum.

Wouldn't deliplayer on winuae still have the limitation of only mono output ?

With unix you can use uade. It plays the mentioned formats. It also lets you record in stereo, even if you haven't paid money for the software, unlike the deliplayer on windows. In fact, it's open source so you can modify it for your own needs.

hm, there is a minimal point.
You have never asked The authors to have permission to use the Deli-player format.

bye bye

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't see the need for a permission to reimplement a compatible system. Besides, you don't know what I've talked with The Authors.
