Problem with Jim Power, SOTB and others

Anyways, I downloaded from exotica the lha files of Jim Power and Apidya, and the files wouldn't run on my deliplayer. I think I have the 1.30 version of the program, and I use a PC, not an Amiga.

Problems I've found with music files:

Shadow Of The Beast plays the game over tune on every tune I run, except the intro theme and the death theme (the one that plays for 8 seconds when your sprite crumbles to bones).

When I extract the Zombi lha file, the files never appear; they simply aren't there, as if only the folder itself should be existent.

Jim Power smpl tunes and Apidya tunes simply won't play. Deliplayer says it does not recognize smpl files as sound files.

I really would appreciate help in this...

The smpl files are the sample files. which match the mdat. song data Please play the mdat. files from Jim Power etc for the music.

on the shadow of the best ingame tunes, you must skip to next subsong to hear the main tunes.

Zombi files extract fine here. Drag and Drop the lha files onto the deliplayer playlist.

Another point - make sure you have the latest players installed.

Don Adan has taken the time to create quite a few new players as well as improve exisiting players such as the David Whittaker format AND the TFMX format (incl. Pro & 7V).

BuZz is a busy  person these days. As a result, ExoticA isn't 100% up to date with the latest players :x . Don Adan hosts his players on the Wanted Team homepage...

Although the most recent TFMX delitracker/deliplayer is quite good enough and plays all the tfmx files on exotica.

I have tested all the tunes on Deliplayer on my laptop and the ones mentioned all played fine with a default installation.

I haven't yet tried to play the Beast tunes yet (skipping the subsongs like Buzz said), but here's the error message I get when I try to play the mdat jimpower songs.

<<< mdat.ingame_2 was identified as "TFMX" but either has an unsupported format, is missing additional files or is corrupt. >>>

Where can I find PC players that play mdat files besides Deliplayer?

An update on my amiga music problems:

I finally got the hand on these subsongs, as buzz very correctly said. Shadow of the beast and shadow warriors are indeed flawless (the stage 3 boss theme was already there, as a sub song; sorry for bothering you with that Buzz).

I finally understood why the files wouldn't run. Turns out that since I was renaming the files after the downloads, I wasn't aware that the mdat files were DEPENDANT on the smpl files. Thus, deliplayer was viewing the renamed files as corrupted ones (or files that were "missing" something).

So Jim Power, Apidya, Shadow Of The Beast, Cannon Fodder, the three Turrican titles, and DOZENS of other tunes now play entirely ok.

However, a few problems still occur:

1) The zombi.lha file must be problematic. I try to extract it, but only the folder gets extracted, not the files inside. If I run the lha file (through Deliplayer), it plays the first clip normally (but the second one is not available).

2) Same for Shinobi (as far as extraction goes).

3) Ivanhoe has pap files, and they don't play at all. Only the intro tune is in mod format (and plays normally).

4) MUDS only extracts one file from all the bunch (an mdat file)....even though I select the whole bunch....O_o

Anyway, I know this is out of topic, but....I just wanted to give my warmest thanks to the people who made this site. These Amiga tunes were (literally) the music I grew up with, so when I re-heard some of my favorite clips I nearly cried from nostalgia. I think that music plays a humongous factor in the overall appearance of a game (in fact, to me, the biggest).

It's not off-topic - I believe this section is meant for questions such as this.

Since you're playing these files on a PC, I would recommend you install WinRAR and use it to extract files from Lha archives. WinZip isn't very useful for Lha archives and WinAce tends to read Amiga file comments as an extension of the filename!

If you are already using WinRAR, and it's the latest version, then I'm not sure what else to suggest. Well, you could install WinUAE and create an Amiga hard disk and extract the files through emulation - but that's just silly!

With regards to the music from Ivanhoe, the PAP file format needs an additional Deliplayer which is available from Don Adan at the Wanted Team website. The music from Pang! is also supported by this player.

Just a small addition : To use Amiga players like you will find on the wanted team page, just copy them into the "amigaplayers" folder from where you install deliplayer (probably C:\Program Files\Deliplayer)
