Boxwork artwork.......

Post by Wildwest »

The general opinion has always been that Psygnosis were the artwork masters when it came to box cover designs. As yet, the total amount of commercially produced amiga games is not known, but what are your favourite box covers?

Another World and Supremacy are two that come to mind, but one of my all time favourites has got to be Fish from Rainbird...truly original.

Oh, Ambermoon and Amberstar are pretty cool as well.

Meanwhile, I'll resist the temptation to do a 2000 box cover's poll in case it melts the forum, ha!

Unfortunately (?) the forum only allows 10 Items in the Polls! :)

Boxes I like are

Supremacy is a terrific box. I just love the colour! Aquaventura is also nice. Others i like include Turrican series boxes, Exolon, SOTB 1+2,
Terrorpods, and about a billion others :D I'll list some more as I remember

I also asked about purchasing copies rather than originals, and whether he
painted the famous Ocean logo - it was around the time I did the Ocean logo
tribute for ExoticA, though I didn't tell him about that!

Bob replied with...
Hi,
A2 prints are £20, A4 are £10. I don't have a list available, (too time
consuming, I'm afraid).
I prefer it if people think of something, ask me if I have it......... Yep,
I did the logo and could
probably supply a print. I'll try and get a list of slides and scanned
artworks together one day,
but don't hold your breath waiting!

Later,

BobW.

Hopefully, that's of use to some people?

I also liked Michael Helmich's work at Thalion. He did over half of the covers.

I quite like the "artwork" for Vixen by Martech...

...or Legend of the Amazon Women by U.S. Gold...

Image

...or perhaps Game Over by Imagine/Dinamic  ...

Image

...or even Athena by Imagine...

But seriously, my favourite all-time box artwork has to be...
