About Lazarus

Since opening the 'Back To The Past' section of the site, i have tried to contact the old webmasters of Lazarus. However, i have had no success. Luckily Bernd from Ami Sector One had the old HTML files. So it is due to him, that they are here today. Alothough the Lazarus team were not able to comment on the site, i have asked several webmasters to comment...

Anthony Garner - Borrowed Time

Lazarus was one of the first sites that i visited when i first got ascess to the internet. I was amazed by its content, and thje great games that it had online. Some of them were really hard to find. The LSD docs and apps were also good. However, i soon changed this opinion, as althought there were lots of great games, i could never download any, at any time of the day. Although the download would start, they would always time out. This resulted in me not using the site very often.

AV - Amiga Vision

Lazarus was the king of all other sites... All other wabmaster looked at the site and said WOW. Ohh, yeah the good old days, the time where we all visited Trantor, Classics for UAE and those old but cool pages. It was funny, in every link section you entered they said the same thing about Lazarus... Tons of cool games and information -MUST SEE-, and so on... :) I also liked it because there were many other things than just games.. Always new and good information. Then the time came and we saw the last thing to the site. 4 weeks after, the whole scene was dead...
Nobody actually talked much. I think we all was very unhappy about this... But after that time something started again.. AGNUS came, and everybody said that he was the new Lazarus. Then Bobic told me that MainCore still lived and it was cool to see The Dream Zone again.
Therealamiga.com was the coolest site and many many people will remember it forever.. I can also remember that the first time I told one of my friends about amiga emulation, he answed: Ohh, I have also heard about a program called Lazarus with many games... Good old Lazarus, it was the only site around with so much information and other things... Im sure that I have forgot something but it is so long time ago so I cant remember anymore :(

Belgarath - Emulation Forever

well when i came accross it when it was pretty much dead, ive respect for what lazarus did from what i saw but i wasnt really around to witness it. in short lazarus was a great site, but was under too enormous strain and at the end it didnt have the bandwith to support it and it didnt seem to get any support from any of its numerous webmasters. its a shame it died but better it did die then live on as a shell of its former self

Bernd - Ami Sector One

I liked it because it is now after one year a legend - and legends must die
some time. Lazarus was the greatest Amiga site of all time. No site will
ever reach the Lazarus status.
I did not dislike it because of its game policy. Negative aspects were for
me verrryyy slow downloads and the fact that they earned much money with the CD's.

Bobic - Back To The Roots

'
Lazarus - a name which I'll never forget'.

They were my starting place into Amiga emulation in early 1998. They have opened my eyes to the beautiful world of Amiga emulation and they're one of the reasons why my Amiga Fever is now stronger then ever before.Lazarus was one of the biggest and definitely the best Amiga emulation site ever. They have had all the classic games online as well as a great collection of scene demos and tools. It was always a pleasure to read their monthly editorials and to browse through all the excellent sections. One thing was really amazing at this time: The fact that Lazarus was not only a games site. They have shown us, that game are not all, that the Amiga has other interesting features and programs too and this was really different to most other websites. The 22nd December in 1998 was probably the sadest and darkest day forthe Amiga emulation community. Lazarus was closed by the IDSA (www.idsa.com), an organisation which tries to stop software piratery. Unfortunately it's still illegal to put old commercial software online, Lazarus was caught by this organsiation and unfortunately this was their end. It was really a huge loss for all of us, because our paradasie has been closed. But the Lazarus team has done so much for the Amiga emulation community and therefore I would like to thank DeeJay99, Yorker and all the others who were involved in this project, very much for their excellent work and for the wonderful days they have given me.Lazarus still lives - in our hearts.
